USD: What To Expect From Today's FOMC Minutes? - BofA

By eFXdata  —  Nov 24 - 10:30 AM

Bank of America Global Research discusses its expectations for today's FOMC minutes from the November meeting.

"Minutes from the FOMC meeting will likely highlight the debate within the FOMC about the persistence of inflation. We expect a number of FOMC officials to express discomfort with the latest inflation figures, noting that there are signs that the gains in inflation will prove to be sustainable. In this context, look for a discussion about the supply side of the economy, particularly the slow recovery in the labor force participation rate and the clogged supply chains," BofA notes.

"We also expect a discussion about the decision to taper with a general agreement that it is prudent to begin tapering asset purchases in the middle of November. We are likely to hear about the costs and benefits of tapering and a conversation about the stability of the financial system. We also expect some officials to discuss the possibility of accelerating the timeline for tapering; it will be interesting to see how many are in that boat," BofA adds.
