USD: US Retail Sales: Keeps GDP Print Around 3% In Q3; Limited Market Reaction - CIBC
First appeared on eFXplus on Sep 14 - 08:48 AM

CIBC Research discusses its reaction to today's US retail sales print for the month of August.

"Gains in US retail sales ran out of steam somewhat in August, although upward revisions to the prior month made up for the disappointment in August. The headline 0.1% increase was three-ticks below the consensus forecast, as was the matching 0.1% advance in the control group (sales ex.auto, restaurants, building materials and gasoline)...

Today's data shouldn't change our forecast for real consumer spending and GDP printing around 3% in Q3, and market reaction should also be limited," CIBC argues.
